vet fees for 5 adorable feral kittens

Feral Kitten Saga
This Feral Kitten Saga began in our back yard in Greene, Maine, acouple months ago, when we began seeing a kitten or two - littleguys, wandering around looking quite forlorn and helpless. Within the next couple weeks, wespotted FIVE kittens right around dusk, scrounging for fallen birdseedfrom our many bird feeders.

Being in Maine, we are heading intocold weather, and we couldn't just stand by and watch these precious little kittens either starve or freeze to death. We were able to rent a"safe trap" from our local hardware store.

One by one, overabout 2 1/2 weeks, we were able to safely trap all 5 kittens. Hubbybuilt a "kitty condo" for them right here in our den. We have had somuch fun "socializing" them - we now close the door to the den and letthem out to run around 2 or 3 times daily.

We already have aMaine coon cat (about 4 y.o.) who alternately loves them or hates them, depending on his mood (we got him from our local Humane Society about 2 years ago). We also have a black lab (about 9 y.o.) who doesn't quiteknow what to think of the kittens - but she is more tolerant of them.

Our financialstruggle now - hence this fund-raising effort - is that we need to getall these kittens to the vet (and actually need to update our current 2pets on their shots, etc., as well). My dear hubby has been unemployedfor 8 months, since his company was downsized - I have only sporadicfreelance income - AND we are both returning college students (online)in an effort to pursue new career options. Winter is fast approachinghere in Maine, and heating season has already begun.

We wouldgreatly appreciate any donations from animal lovers out there - as we fully understand the difficulties brought on by this present economic climate - and thankyou ahead of time for your kind hearts towards these little kittens!
